I am an HCPC registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist working predominantly with children and families. I work in independent practice alongside my NHS Consultant role in Cardiff and the Vale Health Board where I am service lead for two services working with some of the most distressed and vulnerable young people across the region. I have been working in the NHS for over 20 years and currently specialise in attachment and trauma. I worked in London for over 10 years and relocated back home to Wales in 2015.
I am passionate about the emotional well-being of young people, and I provide assessment and therapy for a wide range of difficulties including low mood, anxiety, stress, relationship and family problems. I have worked with young people who identify as neurodivergent extensively throughout my career and have supported many families to navigate support within and outside the NHS.
I am interested in how distress can be understood as a valid and understandable response to life’s challenges and I draw on a range of influences having previously worked in CAMHS, schools and social services.
Whilst I mostly work with school age children, I am happy to support parents of babies, toddlers through to working with young adults. I am equally happy to work with parents who would like support in their parenting journey and the many challenges it presents. Your child may be too young to access therapy, or they may not want to talk, but you may feel that having a space to better understand your child’s needs would be beneficial.
